Star Light, Star Bright Triptych is a looped video of images taken of my mother’s cherished chandeliers that hang aligned in her kitchen, dinette and living room. Photographed from below using my iPhone in selfie mode, the chandeliers are set like stars against a night sky. My mother’s reverence and never-ending desire for shiny objects are presented in a religious format, blinking, mesmerizing and discombobulating. 

In this triptych, my mother is represented by the central, stable and largest light. My sister and I are the flanking ones, at once tied to the center while attempting to escape its pull.
